Director of Development

Are you passionate about making sure people get enough to eat? The Director of Development for Grace Café will spearhead strategic initiatives to raise the funds necessary to take our mission to the next level. By cultivating relationships with existing and new donors, seeking grants, and coordinating fundraising events, the Director of Development will secure the resources necessary to expand our reach and deepen our impact by providing healthy food security in Danville and Boyle County, KY. The Director of Development will report to and collaborate with the Executive Director. Grace Café is a unique non-profit pay-what-you-can community restaurant established in 2015 and located in Danville, KY. Our mission is to end hunger in Danville and Boyle County KY by providing healthy and delicious food security to all who walk through our door. We welcome and serve our patrons in a respectful and dignified manner regardless of their ability to pay. Paying patrons, volunteers, corporate partners, individual donors, grants and fundraising events, supports our mission. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide strategic leadership in creating and executing a fundraising plan to achieve $200K annually

  • Build and cultivate relationships with existing and prospective donors, funders, and partners

  • Engage in face-to-face contact with key donors and funders to promote our mission and procure funding

  • Identify potential grants from various sources. Research grant requirements and timeframes. Submits and monitor grant proposals which clearly, concisely and passionately convey the Café’s mission

  • Plan, market and implement successful fundraising events

  • Develop a Planned Giving program by working with financial institutions and community groups to provide information to individuals concerning the benefits and process of establishing a planned gift (i.e. Wills, trusts and bequests)

  • Analyze, interpret and utilize program data for reports, presentations and proposals

  • Maintain donor database and oversee administration of awarded grants

  • Serve as staff liaison to the Board of Director’s fundraising committee

  • Participate in staff meetings, attend community events and strive to strengthen connections to our community, both internally and externally

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • An assertive and passionate nonprofit professional who understands social justice issues (especially food insecurity and hunger) and will pursue all fundraising avenues to achieve our mission of providing healthy meals to anyone in need regardless of ability to pay.

  • Demonstrated experience and success in the nonprofit sector.

  • Fundraising experience is essential

  • Proven record of success in account management and developing corporate and individual partnerships that result in exceeding fundraising targets

  • Excellent writing skills including grant proposal development and business correspondence

  • Excellent oral communication, presentation and interpersonal skills

  • Highly organized and proficient in Microsoft Office, e-marketing, social media and donor platforms

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Enjoys developing relationships with diverse individuals from a variety of backgrounds

  • Up to 30 hours per week at a rate of $16 - $20 per hour commensurate with experience. (This is a non-exempt position)
