Director of Development

Grace Café seeks an experienced and passionate Development professional to assist in fulfilling the Café’s mission to provide access to healthy food security in Danville and Boyle County, KY.

 The Development Director is responsible for planning, organizing and directing Grace Café’s fundraising initiatives to achieve a $200K annual fund. These include: grant writing, annual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and fundraising events. In addition, the Development Director will thrive in a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and outcome-driven environment, be flexible to changing needs, and contribute strategically to the overall mission of the organization.

Hours & Compensation

This position is up to 30 hours per week, paid hourly, and somewhat flexible. Evenings and weekends may be required for special events. The hourly rate is negotiable based on experience, ranging from $16 to $20 per hour. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

Reporting to and collaborating with the Executive Director, overseeing fundraising and financial resource development for Grace Café, maintaining professional relationships in support of the Café’s mission and values, including: 

  • Develop and effectively implement a multi-channel and strategic fundraising plan in support of Grace Café’s mission and long range goals

  • Ability to assess and interpret program data to build a case for support

  • Manage donor relation efforts including new donor acquisition, retention, and cultivation

  • Grant prospecting and research, writing and submitting grant proposals, and oversight and administration of awarded grants 

  • Plan and implement successful fundraising events

  • Oversee and cultivate the Corporate Partnership Program

  • Maintain the Café’s donor database 

  • Serve as staff liaison for the Board of Director’s fundraising committee

Position Requirements: 

  • B.A./B.S. --- C.F.R.E Preferred 

  • Three to five years demonstrated experience and success in nonprofit fundraising 

  • Ability to work independently and as a team to meet goals and objectives 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, social media platforms, e-marketing platforms, and donor databases

  • Strong written and oral communication skills 

  • Ability to meet deadlines
